All Health Practitioners are required to hold appropriate medical indemnity (malpractice) insurance whilst working in New Zealand.
The Medical Protection Society (MPS) is New Zealand’s leading provider of discretionary Professional Indemnity and expert advice for healthcare professionals. There are also several other smaller providers available.
The rates are very reasonable and if you are coming for a shorter period of time your current insurance may cover you. If you already have insurance through MPS, it may be as simple as just amending your policy.
For those looking at long term and permanent moves, this is a cost that may be negotiated as part of your remuneration package.
